Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Development Manager for a multinational utility rapidly growing within the Australian market to be based in either Sydney or Brisbane.  The Development Manager’s role is to advance renewable energy development opportunities for the company’s business, from feasibility stages to final investment decision.  The role includes overlaying knowledge of commercial, network, resource, land and environmental constraints and working closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify development opportunities within the market.
  • Identify potential development sites and overlap knowledge of network, land and environmental constraints and resource characteristics.
  • Conduct project feasibility studies and due diligence studies.
  • Initiate new projects and progress the development of the development portfolio through a structured project plan.
  • Initiate and manage environmental assessment, and planning approvals.
  • In conjunction with the internal technical teams, assist in the management of procurement processes, yield assessment and grid connection studies.
  • Meet with planning and regulatory bodies to obtain and maintain support for projects.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including landowners, community, and media, to obtain and maintain the social licence to operate.
  • Consult and inform key internal stakeholders and ensure that project priorities are achieved, and deadlines are met.
  • Keep abreast of renewable energy policy developments, consultations, and regulations.
  • Define the project delivery plan, schedule, work breakdown structure tasks and resource requirements against project timeline.
  • Provide regular progress reports against project plans, reporting to project stakeholders and management.
  • Identify, document and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current and proposed renewable energy policy and regulatory frameworks at federal, state and local government levels.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Investment Dossier to ensure all relevant stakeholders are engaged.

Skills required

  • Must have experience in Wind projects
  • Knowledge of project management, the Australian Energy Market, construction, and government regulatory approval.
  • Efficient and effective project management
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Ability to work unsupervised and thrive with a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated use of initiative and a common sense approach
  • Ability to travel to site and work remotely
  • Full drivers licence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor / Master of Engineer, Commerce, Science or Law
