Operations & Maintenance Engineer – Solar / BESS
Contract role | $800–$850/day inclusive per day| Renewable Energy
Talesca is partnering with a global renewable energy developer, owner and operator, to appoint an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to support its Australian renewable energy portfolio.
This contract role will focus on a Solar Farm and broader O&M support across operating and future renewable energy assets.
This is a practical, hands-on role suited to an Electrical Engineer who wants to build their career in renewable energy operations, asset performance and contractor management.
The Role
Working closely with the O&M Manager, you will support the operation, performance and maintenance oversight of utility-scale renewable energy assets.
You will be involved in plant performance monitoring, contractor inspections, operational reporting, fault investigation support, compliance tracking and site-based observations.
This is not a pure construction role. It is ideal for someone who wants to move closer to asset management, operations and long-term renewable energy performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day operation of a Queensland Solar Farm.
- Monitor plant performance, availability and operational KPIs.
- Review maintenance outcomes, operational data and performance trends.
- Support fault investigation and corrective action activities of the O&M Contractor.
- Conduct site inspections and condition assessments.
- Review O&M contractor and service provider works.
- Verify maintenance activities are completed safely and to specification.
- Identify defects, quality issues, non-conformances and operational risks.
- Prepare concise site visit reports and escalate technical issues.
- Support operational readiness for future renewable energy projects.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Electrical Engineering qualification.
- 5 years’ engineering experience.
- Exposure to solar, BESS, renewables, utilities, or power systems
- Interest in O&M, asset performance and contractor management.
- Strong reporting, communication, and organisational skills.
- Confidence in engaging with contractors and site teams.
- Australian working rights and current Driver’s Licence.
Desirable Experience
- Utility-scale solar, wind or BESS experience.
- SCADA or performance monitoring exposure.
- Electrical maintenance, commissioning, or field engineering experience.
- Contractor supervision or site inspection experience.
- Understanding of HV systems or balance of plant equipment.
- Exposure to operational compliance, O&M KPIs, or asset management principles.
